Ayah Al-Masyabi is a Colorado-based storyteller, writer, and visual artist. As a child, Ayah used art as a way to express herself, despite her dyslexia, and this transformed into a passion for storytelling. She creates powerful and nuanced nonfiction and fiction stories to communicate her ideas while her visual art aims to tell stories of complex emotions that the viewer can feel, not just see. She enjoys making art that is not confined to realism, experimenting with abstract and realistic portraits, still life's, and illustrations centering the human experience. Ayah was a 2023 NPR Student Podcast Challenge finalist with her original podcast episode featured on NPR and Men In Blazers. She has been recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest with a gold key in critical essay, a gold key in painting, and an honorable mention in illustration. Other notable placements for her writing include a short story in the 2023 Girls Write Now anthology, “On the Other Side of Everything,” and a series of articles covering the 2023 Women’s World Cup for YR Media. Ayah Al-Masyabi is currently participating in Girls Write Now. She is dedicated to building her portfolio and continuing to create profound stories.
